AAA batteries are commonly used in small electronic devices such as TV remote controls, MP3 players, and digital cameras. Devices that, working at the same voltage, require higher current intensities, use larger AA type batteries. AA batteries have three times the capacity of AAA batteries. However, with the increase in efficiency and miniaturization of modern electronics, many products that had been designed to use AA batteries are being replaced by models that accept AAA batteries. An AAA battery measures 44.5mm in length and 10.5mm in diameter. Alkaline AAA batteries weigh about 11.5 grams each, while lithium AAA batteries weigh approximately 7.6 grams, and rechargeable (Ni-MH) batteries usually weigh between 14 and 15 grams. The nominal voltage of alkaline and lithium AAA batteries is 1.5V, while Ni-MH or NiCd batteries is 1.2V. The capacity of alkaline AAA batteries is usually 900 to 1155mAh (3240 to 4158 coulombs).
